Old Town Hall renovations
The Town of Newmarket has successfully secured over $3 million in funding from the Provincial and Federal government to restore the Old Town Hall (circa 1883) in 2011. Once the renovations are complete, the building will be transformed into an arts and culture centre.
On June 21, 2010, Council voted in favour of a renovation plan that includes a small addition, second floor washrooms and change rooms, and general renovations to make it fully accessible and functional (final design and associated budget to be approved by Council). It also includes some exterior works in keeping with the historic nature of the building, a patio and exterior landscaping.
The original renovation plan was revised after considering budget restraints and input from the public.
