Welcome to the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons

In 2009, Newmarket received more than $4 million in funding (Building Canada Fund) from the Federal and Provincial government for an innovative urban park that would transform downtown Newmarket. The new urban park (formerly known as CUSP) is located near Fairy Lake, adjacent to Main Street and along the Holland River, and is now under construction.

Officially opening this past fall, the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons instantly became a hit with residents and visitors alike. This new urban park is a  community landmark that links Newmarket's trail system to the downtown core and features an open-air skating rink to be enjoyed during the winter months that will transform into an interactive water feature for the remainder of the year (see photo gallery below). The park's hard and soft zones are ideal for an array of activities including the Farmer's Market, concerts, family picnics, events and everyday play.

Inspired by water, the park's components represent movement and flow and feature steps that cascade down to the Holland River's edge. A large canopy anchors the site, providing shade and
shelter, while a stage provides the perfect opportunity for a variety of outdoor performances.
