After the storm...Newmarket's next steps
A one-in-100 year storm centred over Newmarket on Wednesday, 
September 13, 2006, causing basements to flood in the Avenue Road, Lewis Drive, Amelia Street, Park Avenue and Srigley/Alexander areas of town.
Not since Hurricane Hazel in 1954 has Newmarket experienced such an intense storm. Based on reports, 97 millimetres of rain was delivered in six hours overwhelming the Town's drainage systems.
