Make-A-Wish and Central York Fire Services (CYFS) will grant 4-year-old Owen his one true wish to be a Firefighter. This event takes place on World Wish Day®, a global celebration of wish granting efforts, which encourages individuals and communities around the world to get involved and help make a real difference in the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions. |

#NewmarketEarthHour a trending sucess For the fifth consecutive year, Newmarket residents and businesses successfully reduced electricity use during Earth Hour. Newmarket turned off for an hour on March 31, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and recorded a 6.9 per cent reduction in electricity consumption, more than double the 2.7 per cent provincial average. |

Town welcomes new Director, Legislative Services/Town Clerk On Monday, March 5, Newmarket Council appointed Andrew Brouwer as the new Director, Legislative Services/Town Clerk. Under the Corporate Services Commission, the Director leads the Legislative Services Department, which includes municipal clerks services, as well as bylaw and parking enforcement, business and lottery licensing and insurance/risk management services. |

Town rezones Halton Recycling Ltd. lands Today the rezoning of lands owned by Halton Recycling Ltd. on Harry Walker Parkway south, north of Mulock Drive, has come into effect. This will allow for Mixed Employment uses such as office, light manufacturing, hotel, and some retail uses for this property. The rezoned lands include the existing Halton Recycling composting plant, which will be developed for other uses of higher value. |
