Promotional Grants
The recently established Newmarket Economic Advisory Committee (NEDAC) has formed a Newmarket Downtown Development Subcommittee (NDDS) to consider promotional grant requests that supports events, festivals and other activities that support economic development, enhance the Downtown Newmarket identity and contribute to a high level of awareness about Main Street.
The program's objective is to provide support to groups whose scope attracts a broad cross-section of people locally and regionally. The grants support events that:
- showcase local artists, heritage, culture and the business community;
- are for all ages;
- are accessible and open to the general public;
- form partnerships with local merchants and services; and
- demonstrate a quantifiable economic benefit to Downtown Newmarket.
- Both non-profit and for-profit groups or organizations can apply for grants. The maximum grant available is $3,000.
- Groups receiving financial support from the Town of Newmarket in cash or in kind are not eligible for grants.
- The applicant must demonstrate effective management of activities.
- Requestors must complete the grant application form in full.
- The group or organization must be based in Newmarket and must conduct the majority of its activities in Newmarket.
- Impact on the Downtown Newmarket community:
- contribution of the project to the community
- economic and social benefits
- community involvement
- contribution to visibility and awareness of Main Street
- Achievement capability of the project's goals and long term benefits.
- Financial viability through an event business plan.
- Self-sustainability of yearly events.
