Property Tax Rebates and Deferral Programs
The Town of Newmarket offers the following tax rebate and deferral programs:

The heritage properties rebate is administered by the Planning Department. Applications and information for the remaining three programs can be received by contacting the Town of Newmarket Tax Department at 905-895-5193

Tax rebate for vacant properties
In accordance with Section 442.5 of the Municipal Act, vacant commercial and industrial buildings may be eligible for a property tax rebate based on the following criteria:
The vacant space must not be used or occupied for any purpose.
The amount of rebate will be 30 per cent of the tax attributable to the vacant space for commercial and 35 per cent of the tax attributable to the vacant space for industrial.
To be eligible for a rebate, applications must be submitted to the Town of Newmarket by February 28 following the year that the vacancy occurred.
