Town Hall

What you can do Newmarket Environmental Advisory Committee (NEAC)

What you can do:

  • Pitch in and do your part for the environment (reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink). Use organic alternatives to pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, conserve water and electricity, walk, bicycle or use public transit.
  • Participate in Town-wide initiatives that help the environment such Enviro Days, Holland River Clean-up, Earth Day Events, Eco-Festival Activities.
  • Become a member and/or financial supporter of a local environmental group.
  • Take an active interest in the Town's environmental decisions. Speak with your local politicians and municipal/regional government staff about environmental issues of concern to you.
  • Apply to join NEAC or volunteer your time to serve on NEAC's education, outreach and stewardship subcommittee. You can also participate as a guest to learn more about the issues NEAC faces. NEAC holds quarterly public meetings and usually hosts unofficial meetings each month between the public meetings. Special guest speakers are often present.
