Material should be placed at the curb in paper organic yard waste bags, or open containers only, before 7 a.m. for collection. Plastic bags are no longer acceptable for yard waste and will not be picked up. Grass clipping are no longer acceptable for yard waste collection. Grass clippings can be left on your lawn providing valuable moisture and nutrients to your lawn.

Residents should not include tree branches, which are greater than 4" in diameter. Use large branches for firewood. Use strong twine to bundle tree or shrub branches. Bundles must not be more than 3 feet long, no more than 50 pounds in weight and not more than one foot in diameter.

Leaves can be mulched and left on your lawn (simply by running your lawn mower over them two or three times) - they can be added in thin layers to your composting bin, dug directly into the garden, or composted in a separate bin or pile.

Residents can also take yard waste and grass clippings to the Miller Waste Systems Facility at 1351 Bloomington Road in Richmond Hill (no charge).

Summer: Apr. 1 - Nov. 30, Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Closed Statutory Holidays.

Georgina Waste Transfer Station, 23068 Warden Ave., Georgina accepts yard waste during the following office hours: Monday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Statutory Holidays.

Loads are accepted in personal vehicles only. Trailers that are less than 1 cubic yard in size will be free. Trailers more than 1 cubic yard (3'x3'x3')are now charged $65.00 per tonne.
