Residents who wish to dispose of large metal items, appliances and other bulk items are required to purchase large item tags.
COVID-19 Update on Large Item Collection
Please hold off on disposing large items until further notice during COVID-19. If there is a need, residents can take the large items to a York Region Waste Depot (fees apply) or purchase a large item tag by calling the Town at 905-895-5193. A large item tag will be sent to residents through the mail.
Large, non-metal items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, plastic lawn furniture and other bulk items can be placed at the curb for pick-up on your regular garbage collection day provided each item has been affixed with a large item tag.
Metal Items and Appliances
Large metal items such as appliances, barbecues (excluding propane tanks), furnaces, hot water heaters, bicycles and other large metal items must be recycled and arranged to be picked up.
To arrange for curbside collection, residents must first purchase a large item tag and then call our waste collection contractor, Green for Life (GFL) at 1-866-421-5625. If a special collection is not booked, metal items will not be collected.
For safety reasons, please remove doors from fridges, freezers, dishwashers and ovens.
Large Item Tags
Large item tags can be purchased for $16 each from the following Town facilities:
