  • Newmarket Remembrance Day Parade, Service and Vimy Oak Tree Planting

    The Town of Newmarket, in collaboration with the Newmarket Veterans’ Association will be unveiling a Vimy White Oak sapling at at the Remembrance Day Parade and Service. The Vimy Oak sapling is a true descendant of the Vimy Ridge acorns sent home to Canada by Lieutenant Leslie H. Miller. The descendants of the Vimy Oaks were grown to mark the 100 anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in Northern France from April 9 to 12, 1917. The Remembrance Day Parade form up will take place at 10 a.m. (at Water Street and Doug Duncan Drive) with the march off occuring at 10:30 a.m. The service and Vimy Oaks tree planting ceremony will take place at the Veterans' Memorial Park at approximately 10:45 a.m.
