  1. How do I get a membership? What types are available?
    Memberships can be purchased at the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Drive), at the Customer Service Kiosk, the reception desk of the Fitness Centre, as well as the Customer Service Kiosk at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (100 Eagle Street West).

  2. What methods of payment are accepted?
    Methods of payment accepted include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Cash and Debit (a blank cheque or banking information must be provided at time of purchasing membership). A pre-authorized payment plan is available for the term of one year at a time. *Financial assistance for those who qualify.
  3. What are the hours of operation for the Fitness Centre?
    Monday to Friday - 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    Saturday and Sunday - 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    Summer hours for July and August are:
    Monday to Friday - 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    Saturday and Sunday - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.​

  4. What is included in my membership?

    A membership (ages 16+) includes monthly unlimited use of the Fitness Centre, Group Fitness classes, Aquafit classes, Tim Hortons Walking/Running Track, Public Skating, and Public and Lane Swimming. The membership also includes use of the Magna Centre facility change rooms, lockers (locks not provided), showers, and a Fitness Centre orientation and equipment demonstration (if necessary). Towel service is not provided.

     Youth between the ages of 13-15 can access the gym after completing a Teen Orientation session, offered by Fitness Centre staff, as well as access to all drop-in swimming and skating programs, the Tim Hortons Walking/Running Track and selected Group Fitness and Aquafit classes. Children 12 and under have unlimited access to the Public Swimming and Public Skating at Magna and Ray Twinney Recreation Complex as well as the Tim Hortons Walking/Running Track.

  5. Do I have to sign a commitment contract?
    There are no initiation or cancellation fees; however appropriate written notice of cancellation must be given 30 days in advance as per the Terms and Conditions.​

  6. Can I put a hold on my membership if I go away?
    There can be a temporary hold put on the account, once per term, for up to 4 months.  Completion of a hold/ cancellation form is required. ​

  7. What happens if I lose or forget my membership card?
    You can provide your name and phone number to be entered in manually when you arrive at the Fitness Centre Reception desk. Replacement cards can be purchased for $5 at the Customer Service Kiosk at either Magna Centre and Ray Twinney Complex.​

  8. What ages can attend the Fitness Centre and Group Fitness classes/drop-in programs?
    The Fitness Centre is available to individuals 16 years and up and to youth ages 13 to 15 upon completion of a specialized Teen Orientation session. All Group Fitness classes are available for participants 16 years of age or older to attend; and selected fitness classes are available for youth 13-15 years of age (please see Group Fitness schedule to learn what these selected classes are).

    We offer Family Fitness classes for individuals 6 years of age or older (to attend with a parent/guardian/caregiver). Children 12 years and under are able to be included in the household membership and will have access to public swimming, public skating, and the track.  Please see the online class schedules for age requirements and class descriptions.

  9. What do I bring/wear to the Fitness Centre?
    All members are required to wear proper gym attire (shirts, bottoms, and running shoes). No open toe shoes will be permitted. Running shoes must be worn at all times. Chalk is not permitted in the Fitness Centre.​

  10. What do I bring/wear to attend the Group Fitness Classes and/or Track?
    It is recommended to bring water, appropriate clothing, and appropriate footwear. If you own your own yoga mat feel free to bring it with you to the appropriate classes.

  11. What types of classes are offered as a part of my membership?
    There is a wide variety of Group Fitness (dance, cardio, strength, yoga, etc.) classes and Aquafit (Low, med, high intensity) classes available as a part of the membership.  Please see the online class schedules for locations, times, and descriptions.​

  12. Are there Group Fitness classes or Aquafit classes offered during early morning hours and/or lunch hours?
    There are Group Fitness and Aquafit classes offered at 8:30 a.m. and there are classes offered at varying lunch hours during the week. Please see the online class schedules for class descriptions and more specific details.

  13. What if I don't know what to do when I get there?
    Newmarket Fitness Centre Attendants are available to give you an orientation and tour of the fitness facility, an overview of the equipment available, and offer an understanding of how to use the machines.

  14. Can I use the Fitness Centre and pool during the same visit?
    Yes!  You can use all features (Fitness Centre, Track, Pool, Skating, Fitness Classes) which are covered under the membership as often as you would like (in accordance with schedules), as well as other family members included under the Household Membership.  It is important to remember to properly hydrate and eat often while participating in extended periods of activity.​

  15. What are the etiquette expectations for the Fitness Centre?​

    All guests must check-in at the Fitness Centre Reception Desk before using the Fitness Centre.

    All members are required to scan and/or present their membership card at the reception desk each and every time to access the Fitness Centre.

    All users must wear appropriate gym attire (shirts, shoes and bottoms). No flip-flops, open toe shoes, crocs, etc.

    Please use the sanitary wipes provided to clean equipment after use

    Glass containers and gum are not permitted in the Fitness Centre.

    The Town of Newmarket will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen property.

    In consideration of users with scent sensitivities, please avoid wearing perfume or heavily scented personal products.

    Users must be 16 years of age or older in order to use the Fitness Centre's facilities.

    Youth 13 to 15 years of age are welcome to use the Fitness Centre upon successful completion of the Fitness Orientation program. Please register at reception.

  16. Does the Fitness Centre offer Personal Training sessions?

  17. If I have already purchased passes to any of the amenities already included in the fitness membership (track, aquafit, swim etc), can I apply the remaining passes towards my fitness membership?
    Yes, the remaining passes can be applied as a credit towards your account and used as payment when registering for the fitness membership.
