Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort

On Saturday, May 6, the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place. This is the first coronation in seven decades, after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Residents are invited to join some of the many events taking place in and near Newmarket to honour and celebrate this historic moment.
- Museum Activities: Stop by the Elman W. Campbell Museum (134 Main Street S.) on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate with free activities. Commemorate this historic occasion with a King’s Coronation Scavenger Hunt, take-home activities and more.
- Falls Illumination: Head to the Fred A. Lundy Bridge on Saturday evening to see the falls lit an emerald green in honour of the coronation.
- Coronation Viewing Event: MPP for Newmarket-Aurora Dawn Gallagher Murphy will be hosting a coronation viewing event at the Aurora Legion Branch 385 (105 Industrial Parkway North) on Saturday, May 6 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. - Coronation Tea: The King Heritage and Cultural Centre will be hosting a Coronation Tea on May 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Laskay Hall inside the King Heritage and Cultural Centre (2920 King Road). For tickets, visit kingheritageandculture.ca/coronation-tea
- Attractions across the province: The Province of Ontario will also be offering a series of free cultural attractions on May 6 in honour of the coronation. For the full list, visit
