  • Srigley Street - Watermain Lining (Carlson Drive to Leslie Street)

    ​Construction Notice

    The Town is pleased to inform you that the Srigley Street watermain lining project has been awarded to FER-PAL Construction Ltd. North York, Ontario.

    The contractor will be obtaining all utility locates and then moving equipment on site on or about the week of September 25, 2017. Construction is scheduled to start shortly after, with completion by December of 2017, (weather permitting and barring any unforeseen site conditions). Working hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday (holidays excepted), with the occasional Saturday work should it become necessary. The construction will extend from Carlson Drive to Leslie Street. The scope of the project includes, but is not limited to, the structural lining of the existing watermain and restoration of the disturbed areas.

    While construction projects of this nature are usually accompanied by a certain number of inconveniences, including dust, noise, restricted access to your driveway from time to time, there will also be some brief periods where water service may be interrupted. The Town will ensure that this is kept to a minimum and your home will receive water through an approved above ground system. A hose will be attached to the temporary system to your home using a "Y" connector via the outside hose tap. This allows you to receive water in your home and use your garden hose. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and please note that you will receive advance notice of any restriction or interruption whenever possible.

    We recommend that you temporarily disconnect any water treatment system, such as water softeners or filters, water-cooled air conditioners or any similar plumbing fixtures, as the transfer of water supply to the temporary water system may affect these fixtures. As automatic lawn sprinkler systems may not operate property while the work is taking place, manual watering may be necessary.

    Emergency vehicle and local vehicle access will be maintained at all times and if you or any member of your household has special needs (i.e. wheelchair access, etc.) and would like assistance getting in and out of the construction zone during the progress of the work, please advise the undersigned and arrangements will be made with the contractor to accommodate your needs.

    The Town's By-law Enforcement office will be advised and requested to give special consideration to vehicles parked on adjacent streets during these times, including overnight when driveways are not accessible.

    The Town has retained the services of OZA Inspections Limited to undertake a pre-construction condition survey of existing buildings prior to the start of construction and to carry out vibration monitoring during the construction period. Consequently, representatives from OZA may contact you with a request to gain access to your property for the purpose of carrying out the preconstruction condition survey.

    In an effort to keep the Town Clean and Green we appreciate your efforts to water and maintain the new sod to ensure growth.

    The Town's consulting engineers, The Ainley Group, will have a full time representative on site to oversee the construction activities and to deal with any concerns that you may have.
