In response to yesterday's announcement from the province that Ontario is temporarily moving back into a modified step two of its roadmap to reopen, the Town of Newmarket will close all indoor recreation facilities and winter programming will be cancelled until at least January 26, in accordance with provincial regulations. COVID-19 Vaccine Information in York Region
COVID-19 vaccine distribution is being managed by York Region Public Health in Newmarket. The Town of Newmarket cannot book appointments for COVID-19 vaccines.

Newmarket's Approach to Reopening
As the Province of Ontario carries out its reopening plan, the Town of Newmarket continues to take a slow and cautious approach with the health and safety of our community our top priority. We will continue to monitor the changing COVID-19 landscape, seek guidance from the Province of Ontario and assess each reopening phase carefully.
The Town will gradually reopen more recreational outdoor amenities as restrictions are lifted. Staff will be performing necessary maintenance work to ensure these areas are safe for use, in addition to posting updated signage. How Newmarket is prepared
On March 18, 2020, the Town of Newmarket declared a State of Emergency in response to COVID-19. This declaration allowed the Town of Newmarket to dedicate more resources to respond to COVID-19. Due to high vaccination rates, and lower COVID-19 numbers, the Town officially lifted the State of Emergency on August 9, 2021. The Town continues to work closely with York Region Health to monitor for cases of COVID-19 in Newmarket. York Region Health is also collaborating with local hospitals, emergency services and other health agencies to ensure prompt reporting and follow up of all individuals who may require testing for COVID-19.
