The Planning Department, under the Development and Infrastructure Services Commission has a mandate to assist and advise the public, land stakeholders, government agencies and Town Council on matters relating to land use planning. January 2019: Council has adopted an Interim Control By-law that limits the ability to expand, rebuild, or add to many residential properties while a study on changes to the zoning by-law is undertaken. For more details, see this page.
The department processes all forms of development applications under the Planning Act, including Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments, Subdivisions and Condominiums, Site Plan Approvals, Minor Variances and Consents.
