Winter Waste Collection Tips
Created: Monday, December 12, 2022
The winter months are fast approaching. Here are some winter waste collection tips that you should follow on collections days:
- Clear a space at the end of your driveway to place your waste collection bins. Do not place waste collection bins on the road or sidewalk. If waste bins are hit by snow plows, it is the resident's responsibility to clean up any spilled material.
- Please avoid placing garbage bags or waste collection bins on top of or behind snowbanks during the winter months as this makes it difficult for the collection worker to reach them and increases the risk of waste spilling onto the road.
- To prevent anything in the blue bin from being blown away by the wind, place heavier items on top and lighter items on the bottom.
- Place your waste out by 7 a.m. on the morning of your collection day rather than putting it out overnight to prevent it from freezing onto bins.
