  • In-Road Flexible Bollard Program

    The Town of Newmarket is committed to ensuring safe roads for everyone. This season, three different types of In-Road Flexible Bollard programs will be in place until October 2024 as part of the Town’s traffic calming and speed management program. The purpose of the bollards is to create narrower lanes in neighbourhoods to slow drivers from speeding through residential areas. These bollards are designed to flex upon impact to prevent damage to the bollard or vehicles.  

     

    The three types of bollards you will see are:  


    In-Road Centre Line Bollard Program 

    Bollards are installed on the centre line marked with the posted speed limit or ‘School Zone’ sign.   


    These will be installed on the following roads:  

      • Bonshaw Ave (East of Flagstone Way) 
      • Carberry St (Bayview Ave – Pinder Ave [S]) 
      • Eagle St (Lorne Ave – Church St) 
      • Joe Persechini Dr (Coleridge Dr [S] - Hartford Cres [N]) 
      • Keith Ave (Rhodes Cir [W] – Rhodes Cir [E]) 
      • Main St N (30m North of Bexhill) 
      • Patterson St (Leeder Crt – Davis Dr) 
      • Timothy St (Cedar St – Doug Duncan Dr) 
      • Veterans Way (Leslie St – Sherman Brock Cir) 
      • Willowick Dr (Mulock Dr - Pinder Ave [N]) 


    In-Road Traffic Calming Bollard Program 

    Bollards are installed on the center lane with two side bollards close to each roadway curb.  


    This will be installed on the following roads:  

    • Aspenwood Dr (Marble Pl – 20 m East of Flagstone Way) 
    • Bayview Pkwy (Davis Dr – Heman St) 
    • College Manor Dr (Mulock Dr – Greig Cir [S]) 
    • Columbus Way (Sawmill Valley Dr – Mulock Dr) 
    • George St (Davis Dr – Cardinal Cres [S]) 
    • Penn Ave (Charlotte St N – Hillview Dr) 
    • Queen St (Queen’s Cres – Roxborough Rd) 
    • Sandford St (Mulock Dr – Hope Cir) 
    • Sawmill Valley Drive (Valley Green Trail – Colter St) 
    • Wilstead Dr (Queen St – 20m North of Monkswood Cres) 


    In-Road Bike Lane Bollard Program 

    Bollards will be installed on the sides of bike lanes to act as bike lane delineators and as visual narrowing for drivers protecting cyclists even further.  


    This will be installed on the following roads:  

    • Alexander Rd (Srigley St – Davis Dr) 
    • Lundy's Ln (Davis Dr – Bolton Ave) 
    • Millard Ave (Yonge St - Lorne Ave) 
    • Millard Ave W (Eagle St W - Yonge St) 
    • Prospect St (Timothy St - Srigley St) 
    • Srigley St (Prospect St - Leslie St) 
    • Timothy St (Doug Duncan Dr - Prospect St)
