    Created: Wednesday, July 22, 2020

Newmarket welcomes new addition to award-winning Main St.

The Old Flame Brewing Co. will be a welcome addition to Newmarket’s Main Street when they open their doors early next year. The Old Flame Brewing Co. was the successful proponent of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a 10-year lease agreement for the adaptive re-use of the Old Fire Hall property issued by the Town in January.
“This is very exciting news and a positive story of investment in the future of Main Street during difficult times,” says Newmarket Mayor John Taylor. “I am so proud of how our entire community has come together to show our support for our local businesses through COVID-19. The Old Flame Brewing Company will perfectly complement our vibrant and award-winning Main Street and we look forward to the future when we can all enjoy it together.”

Located at 140 Main Street (the corner of Main Street and Millard Avenue.), the Old Fire Hall is one of Main Street’s landmark properties. The Old Fire Hall is a very unique 5,000 square foot property in downtown Newmarket with significant potential to enhance the vibrancy of Main Street and act as a catalyst for further development north on Main Street towards Davis Drive. The Old Fire Hall was constructed in 1952 and occupied as a fire hall for the majority of its lifespan. It is located in close proximity to key cultural sites, community facilities, shops and restaurants.
“Main Street Newmarket offers a very attractive location for Old Flame Brewery as we expand production of our award winning beers. As with our current location, we look forward to engaging with downtown businesses and supporting the ongoing growth and vitality of Main Street” says Founder and President of Old Flame Brewing Co., Jack Doak.
Old Flame Brewing Co. offers a gathering place to enjoy a pint and make everlasting memories. The Newmarket location will include interactive tours and tasting and a second floor event space. The existing location is in the Historic District of Port Perry where they have transformed a 130 year old carriage manufacturing shop to mirror its grand former self, paying tribute to the rich history of the landmark property. They are committed to reviving the Old Fire Hall in a similar way. Old Flame Brewing Company will preserve and restore the original building façade, respecting the strong history and heritage, honouring the stories of days gone by and creating an experience worth remembering.
The Town of Newmarket remains strongly committed to supporting its business community, for more information visit
