Fairy Trail Walk for Esther

Join us at the Second Annual Fairy Trail Walk for Esther! Newmarket resident Christian Wehrlis desire to create a memorial to his sister Esther, who passed away in 2021, was the catalyst for creating a story walk in Newmarket. Esther was a kindergarten teacher in Switzerland who loved storybooks, and when she came to visit her brother in Newmarket she enjoyed spending time at Newmarket Public Library. To commemorate his sisters love of children and reading, Christian proposed the Fairy Trail Walk for Esther to create an outdoor event for families in Newmarket. As such, the Fairy Trail Walk became the first community supporter of the StoryWalk with Newmarket Public Library. In 2024, the Fairy Trail Walk for Esther raised over $4,000, with funds supporting the purchase of over 150 children's books at Newmarket Library. In 2025, we seek to raise $10,000 to support building a more robust and diverse children's collection and more free programming for children and families.
