Special events to mark the grand opening of Mulock Park

Mulock Park is open starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, September 18 and is a free public park. Operating hours may differ on opening weekend for some park and facility amenities. Share your pictures with us by tagging @TownofNewmarket and #MeetMeAtMulock on social media. 

The event is rain or shine. Schedule and activities are subject to change. Giveaways, supplies, and workshops are limited. While supplies last. Capacities will be monitored for Mulock House, Artist Studio and Glass Hall.

About Mulock Park

Mulock Park is a 16-acre multi-faceted green space nestled at the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive. This season, come travel the 2 kilometres of paved trails, splash in the water feature at the Cedar Circle and discover public art across the site. The Mulock House is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act and has been preserved, updated, and reimagined featuring the Chickadee Café operated by A Million Mouthfuls Catering and an art gallery in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).

Plan your trip

The Town expects a large turnout and has arranged free shuttles running continuously during the grand opening. Shuttles are available from Ray Twinney Recreation Complex – Main Entrance (100 Eagle St. W) and Magna Centre – East Entrance (800 Mulock Drive) offering ample parking and travel in accessible York Region Transit buses which will drop guests off near park entry points.

Every shuttle passenger will receive one complimentary Town of Newmarket recreation single drop in pass, plus an entry into a draw for prizes, including tickets to Art Gallery of Ontario, Mirvish Productions and LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Toronto!

Visitors can also park at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex and enjoy a 10-minute walk along the multi-use trail to the park.

Jordanray Boulevard at Clearmeadow Boulevard and Doubletree Lane closed for local traffic only  

To manage traffic flow to the Mulock Park during the grand opening weekend Jordanray Boulevard at Clearmeadow Boulevard and Doubletree Lane will be closed for local traffic only. Newmarket staff will be in the area to ensure access is limited to local traffic only. To access the park, please park at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex or Magna Centre and take the Free shuttle to Mulock Park.

Residents are asked to avoid parking on surrounding residential streets. Parking enforcement staff will actively monitor local streets for illegal parking. 

Accessible Parking is available at the Yonge Street Parking Lot (16830 Yonge Street), just north of the park. 

General Parking is also available at the Yonge Street Parking Lot (16830 Yonge Street) however, we expect it will fill up fast and encourage guests to walk, bike or take a shuttle to the festivities. 

Active access

Mulock Park was designed to connect to the Town’s trail system, multi-use paths and transit network. Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike or take transit to the park. York Region Transit and Viva stop at the park’s main entrance at the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.

Food and beverage options will be available for purchase from the Chickadee Café, Picnics2Go, pizza by Guidos Woodfired, My Indie Coffee, Venerosa Gelato and Wild Lemon Co. during event hours Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 20.

Alcohol is available for purchase (must be 19+) at various locations across the property from September 18 to 20. Please drink responsibly. Alcohol is not permitted outside designated licensed areas.

Park features

Mulock Park is a four-season destination for Newmarket and beyond. From summer splashing to winter skating, quiet garden moments to vibrant events, Mulock Park has been designed as a destination for every season.

The park features the Woodland Loop, a skating trail through the trees that connects to a central ice rink, which transforms into a water play feature in warmer months. The skate trail is one of the longest refrigerated municipal trails in Ontario. Those young, and young at heart can climb, swing and explore the Hollow Log Play Park, a natural play area with water, sand and wood demonstrating the lifecycle of a forest. The playscape includes many accessible features.

The restored green spaces and accessible paths call on visitors to explore the 16-acre park, where they can discover public artwork inspired by nature, dip their toes in the trickling Riverine water feature and put down a blanket for a picnic on one of three lawns, surrounded by majestic trees, including the vast black walnuts.

AGO at Mulock House

As part of a proud partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), beginning September 18, 2026, select artworks from the AGO’s collections of Indigenous and Canadian Art can be seen at the historic Mulock House. 

These curated exhibitions are part of the AGO’s commitment to reaching audiences outside its walls and making the museum’s collection even more accessible. 
Admission to Mulock House is free for the public.

Discover art throughout the park 

Mulock Park features six commissioned public art pieces that celebrate the landscape through innovation and highlight stories across the past, present and future. Visitors can discover works by local, regional and international artists woven into the natural setting throughout the park. A landmark piece, Calling Community by Newmarket-raised and internationally acclaimed artist Brendan Fernandes, will soon be installed at the corner of Yonge Street and Mulock Drive, acting as a beacon that invites guests into the park. Visitors can also discover works by Brandon Vickerd, Nyle Miigizi Johnston, Michael Belmore and D’Andrea Bowie, Georgia Dickie and Laura Marotta.

On Tuesday, September 29 the Town will host an Artist Talk and homecoming celebration with Brendan Fernandes. Register to attend this free event at newtix.ca.
