Newmarket Council shows support for local fundraising initiative NWMRKT Proud

Newmarket Council showed their support for NWMRKT Proud, a grassroots campaign created by local Newmarket residents that is designed to foster community spirit by raising money to support the Newmarket Food Pantry.

After raising $38,000 in 2024 through t-shirt sales, the campaign has a goal of $40,000 this year. With more than 20,000 mouths fed from the Newmarket Food Pantry and 33 per cent of clients under age 18, food banks are experiencing increased demand from communities. This year's campaign is particularly important to support our community and help combat food insecurity.

You can support the NWMRKT Proud campaign by purchasing a t-shirt for a $20 donation, with each t-shirt purchase providing five meals. NWMRKT Proud t-shirts will be available at the Newmarket Farmers' Market (200 Doug Duncan Drive) for several weekends in June leading up to the York Region Pride Parade.
