Fitness Centre:

  • All guests must check-in at the reception desk prior to using the Fitness Centre
  • All members are required to swipe/and or present their membership card at the reception desk each & every time to access the Fitness Centre.
  • All users must wear proper fitness attire (Shirt, Shoes, Bottoms. No sandals, slides, crocs, open toe shoes etc)
  • No coats, gym bags, backpacks, glass containers, or gum is permitted in the fitness centre
  • The Town of Newmarket will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen property.
  • In consideration of other users with scent sensitivities, please avoid wearing perfume or heavily scented personal products.
  • Users must be 16 years of age or older to use the Fitness Centre's facilities.
  • Youth 13 to 15 years of age are welcome to use the Fitness Centre upon successful completion of the Fitness Orientation Program. Please register here (hyperlink to schedule) or visit reception at the Fitness Centre.


  • Please only use equipment if you are in proper health to do so. Exercise at your own fitness level. Use equipment at your own risk.
  • Our friendly fitness staff are available to provide instructions on any fitness equipment that you may be unfamiliar with or have forgotten how to use.
  • Please read & follow equipment directions carefully. For safety reasons, ensure that clips are used at all times on free weights, and that plates & weights are not dropped.
  • Always use safety tethers & automatic stop mechanisms when using cardio equipment.
  • Limit cardio use to 30 minutes when others are waiting and/or during peak times.
  • Return plates, dumbbells, barbells, and any other fitness equipment to the proper location after every use when finished.
  • Wipe down all equipment with paper towel & spray bottles provided after every use.
  • Refrain from sitting on equipment between sets, or when socializing.
  • Report any faulty or damaged equipment or inappropriate behavior to Fitness Centre staff immediately.
  • Respect fellow members at all times
  • Always have a 'spotter' when lifting heavy weights.
  • No chalk in the Fitness Centre


  • All guests that have not pre-registered for the class are required to check – in at the reception desk. If you pre-registered for the class, attendance will be taken in the studio prior to the start of class.
  • Please wait until the previous class has ended & you have been notified by the instructor before entering.
  • Advise your fitness instructor of any specific medical concerns that they should be aware of so they can recommend appropriate modifications.
  • All participants must wear proper fitness attire (shirts, shoes, bottoms. No flip flops, open toe shoes, crocs etc)
  • Lockers are available in the changerooms for day use.
  • The Town of Newmarket will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen property.
  • Wipe down all equipment with paper towel & spray bottles provided after every use.
  • Put equipment back in the storage room in a neat & clean manner.
  • Out of respect for all participants please turn off your mobile device ringer.
  • Stop exercising if you feel faint or are in any discomfort.
  • Be considerate of others' exercise space.
  • Save your feedback & suggestions for the instructor until the end of class.

Newmarket Fitness is completely outfitted with a full line of equipment from Matrix Fitness Canada. Our fully functional, supervised Fitness Centre's include:

Cardio Theatre area with Treadmills, ellipticals, Adaptive Motion Trainers, Stepmills, Recumbent Bikes, Stationary Bikes, Spin cycles, Arm Ergometor, and Rowing Machines.

Free Weight/Strength Training area with a large variety of upper & lower body single station strength machines, Squat racks, Smith Machine, 2 tier functional trainer, 4 stack multi station, Bench Press, Dumbbells, Barbells, Kettlebells, and small functional fitness accessories

All Group fitness classes are included in your RecPass Membership. For non-members, Group Fitness classes are $9.25 including tax.

  • Group fitness classes take place in the Fitness Studio located on the 3rd floor of the Magna Centre
  • Classes must begin and end on time; no late check in's will be permitted.
  • Participants are required to wear proper fitness attire for all classes (shirt,shoes, & bottoms. No Flip flops, open toe shoes, crocs etc)
  • All Group Fitness Classes will be available for pre-registration through Xplor Recreation
  • Reservations are not required for participation to classes, however, it is strongly recommended that participants register online in advance as all classes are first–come, first–served. Walk-in's are available where space permits.
  • Walk-in's are to register at the kiosk desk prior to the start of class.
  • Attendance will be taken in the Fitness Studio at the beginning of each class for pre-registered check-ins.
  • Group, Aqua Fitness and Pickleball registration for drop-ins open every Sunday at 8:00AM for the upcoming week's drop-in activities.
  • If you are unable to attend the class you have registered for, please login to your Xplor account and withdraw your registration. If you are unable to withdraw yourself, please ensure you call (905) 953-5303 and one of our kiosk associates will be able to assist you. Or you can email the Fitness Centre directly at
  • Once in the Magna Centre, please check-in at the Customer Service kiosk, and either swipe your Fitness Centre membership card, redeem your punch pass or pay the drop-in rate.
