Mulock Park

Mulock Park features 16-acres of beautiful greenspace with trails, natural areas, and a natural discovery playscape with sand, water, and climbing opportunities. At the centre of the property sits Mulock House, a preserved, updated and re-imagined house with a café, lounge, event space and gallery. 

The park features the Woodland Loop, a 340 metre refrigerated skate trail, Artist Studio, Glass Hall event space, and public art installations. 

Mulock Park features two parking lots to serve visitors – one parking lot for 40 cars on Mulock Drive (33 Mulock Drive), and a larger lot for more than 200 cars located on the Hydro Corridor, just north of the park (16830 Yonge Street).

Parking is free.

No, EV charging stations are not available at Mulock Park.

The solar shade partially offsets electricity use at Mulock Park.

Mulock Park welcomes guests of all abilities and is an inclusive destination for everyone. The park features wide, paved trails, high visibility wayfinding, accessible ramps and universal washrooms. The historic Mulock House has been renewed for full access, including an elevator.

The park includes:

• Barrier-free parking spaces available at both the Yonge Street and Mulock Drive parking lots. See Parking for more information. 
• Drop-off access to Mulock House accessible from the Mulock Drive entrance.
• Universal washrooms available to the public throughout the park. This includes a universal washroom at the Cedar Circle pavilion, a universal washroom with a lift at the Mulock House, and a universal washroom for program participants at the Glass Hall.

Mulock Park offers two indoor rental spaces: Glass Hall and M Bar. At this time, no other indoor or outdoor spaces within the park are available for private rental. Park amenities, lawns, gardens, picnic areas, pathways, and public gathering spaces remain open for public use on a first come, first served basis. For more information, please visit our Halls and Meeting Rooms page.

Alcohol is not permitted at Mulock Park unless it is being served as part of an event that has obtained a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

For private rentals in the Glass Hall or M Bar, renters may request approval to serve alcohol. Any event serving alcohol must be approved by the Town of Newmarket as part of the rental process, comply with the Town's Municipal Alcohol Policy, and obtain a valid Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the AGCO. All permit requirements, approvals, insurance, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations are the responsibility of the permit holder. The park is an accessible space open to the community like any park. There is no fee to use the park amenities including the skate trail. There may be some programs within the park that have a cost, such as a registered art class or renting selected spaces for a private event.

Admission to Mulock House is free for the public including the AGO’s collections of Indigenous and Canadian Art can be seen at the historic Mulock House.

Parking is free.

There are no ice skate rentals or roller skate rentals available. There may be pop-up roller skate rental events.

Visitors are expected to dismount bikes, scooters and skateboards inside Mulock Park.

The park has nearly two kilometers of paved trails to make the park accessible to all, including mobility devices, strollers and pedestrians. Travellers are asked to share the trails.

We encourage active transportation to get to Mulock Park which is why it was designed with connection points to the Multi-Use Path system. We have included many spaces to park your bike at each entrance, or users can walk their bikes/scooters.

The use of motorized vehicles, including electric scooters and electric dirt bikes is not permitted on Town trail systems or in parks. 

Absolutely, dogs are welcome in the park on leashes. Service animals are also welcome in the buildings. Due to public health requirements, pets are not allowed in Mulock House, nor on the veranda. The lower patio is a pet friendly space.

There is not an off-leash space at this park. Please clean up after your pets and do not allow them to go in the water features. 

The gallery space on the second floor of the Mulock House features art from the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Indigenous and Canadian collections. Learn more about the gallery hours.

Please follow these rules to help preserve the artwork from the Art Gallery of Ontario on the second floor of Mulock House.

• Thank you for not touching the art as even clean hands contain traces of dirt and oil that can damage artworks
• Maintain a distance of 1 metre (3 feet) from artworks
• For safety and security purposes, some areas are under video surveillance, and activity is recorded but not monitored

Not allowed in the gallery spaces

• Food and drink 
• Flowers, plants, open umbrellas, pets, drones, tripods and selfie sticks
• Skate shoes, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and scooters
• Wagons or buggies that are pulled behind the visitor

Allowed with care and caution in the gallery spaces

• Service animals are welcome
• Small children and strollers are welcome with bags underneath the stroller or on handles 
• Hand-held photography for personal, non-commercial use only is allowed, except where indicated

There is no cost to view these galleries.

The Park is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. however amenities have set hours. Please see the hours of operation.

Mulock Park will host a variety of community programs and special events throughout the year, some of which will include live music. These activities are generally limited to specific dates and times and are not ongoing on a daily basis. When planning events at Mulock Park, we consider factors such as event hours, speaker placement and direction, sound levels, and the location of performance areas to help minimize impacts on nearby homes.

Yes! We have a Natural Discovery Playscape called the Hollow Log Play Park – this is a unique playground that promotes discovery. It has natural elements – water, and dirt, and elements inspired by nature – to help kids learn. The playscape includes many accessible features.

Yes! There is a water play feature at Cedar Circle. It is seasonal and weather dependent, please see the hours of operation for the up-to-date hours.

Keeping it natural has been a guiding principle since the start. Our strategy is focused on creating an ecosystem of healthy, quality trees.

The Hollow Log Play Park is one of the many creative ways that selectively removed trees are used throughout the property. Other trees removed have been used as furniture, landscaping, ground cover, and in some cases returned to the naturalized forest floor to feed the landscape and enhance the new ecology.

In the end, three trees were planted for every one removed, approximately 490 new trees.  The overall property will benefit from an ongoing higher level of stewardship.  Mulock Park now has approximately 950 trees, forming an important part of Newmarket's tree canopy, restoring the site ecology for healthier forest cover in the future.

One of the most notable natural features of the site is the Walnut Grove. Some of these trees may have been planted by Sir William Mulock himself! The Walnut Grove may be closed during periods of time when the walnuts are falling. They can still be admired from afar.

Mulock Park is not a suitable space for a community garden. The Town of Newmarket is partnered with York Region Food Network for the operation of community gardens. For more information on the program including locations, please visit https://yrfn.ca/community-gardens/
