Mayor and Council
The Town of Newmarket is divided into seven wards represented by seven different councillors to serve Newmarket residents' needs. For more information on ward boundaries, view the Newmarket map below.

Mayor John Taylor
John is currently the Mayor of the Town of Newmarket. He has represented Newmarket on both Town Council and York Region Council for 18 years, serving as Mayor for the past six years.

Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor Tom Vegh
Tom Vegh was re-elected to Office as Deputy Mayor and Regional Councillor for the Town of Newmarket, representing the Town on both Town Council and York Region Council.

Ward 1: Grace Simon
Grace Simon was elected as Ward 1 Councillor for the 2022 - 2026 term.

Ward 2: Victor Woodhouse
Victor Woodhouse was elected as Ward 2 Councillor for the 2022 - 2026 term.

Ward 3: Jane Twinney
Jane Twinney was re-elected in 2022 for her fourth term on Council.

Ward 4: Trevor Morrison
Trevor Morrison was elected as Ward 4 Councillor for the 2022 - 2026 term.

Ward 5: Bob Kwapis
Bob was first elected in a bi-election in 2016 from a pool of seven other candidates. In the 2022 election, Bob was acclaimed, marking 2 ½ terms (10 years) of his service to our community and to the residents of Newmarket.

Ward 6: Kelly Broome
First elected in 2014, Kelly Broome was elected to serve as Councillor for Ward 6 in Newmarket for a third- four year term, in 2022.

Ward 7: Christina Bisanz
First elected in 2014, Christina Bisanz was elected to serve as Councillor for Ward 7 in Newmarket for a third four year term, in 2022.
