Animal Licensing and Registration

All dogs and cats in the Town of Newmarket must have a license in accordance with the Animal Licensing, Regulation and Control By-law 2020-30 [PDF/216KB]. This simple process will ensure you reunite with your pet if they get lost.

How to purchase an animal license

There are two ways to purchase an animal license in Newmarket:

Online animal licensing and registration

The Town offers online animal licensing and registration. When you license your pet online, you will automatically receive an online pet profile. This allows you to:

  • Add information about your pet
  • Edit key information if it changes
  • Upload a photo of your pet
  • Report if your pet is lost

In addition, when you license your pets online, you will receive an annual rewards card. A variety of local businesses have offered deals to rewards cardholders.
