Update as of February 26, 2025: The Town of Newmarket lifted the significant weather declaration on February 26 at 9 a.m.
The Town of Newmarket is declaring a Significant Weather Event for as of 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 (pursuant to s.16.9 of Reg. 239/02, as amended) due to the anticipated heavy snowfall. This declaration will remain in effect until further notice. The above weather hazards provided by Environment and Climate Change Canada have the potential to pose a significant danger to users of all roads within Newmarket. Please take extra caution and avoid unnecessary travel. What does this mean? During a Significant Weather Event, Newmarket's winter services do not change. However, residents can expect winter clearing activities to take longer to complete with a continued focus on primary roads and routes followed by secondary roads and routes. Residents can track the progress of snow plowing in Newmarket through our online app, Locate My Plow and learn more about the Town's snow clearing procedures at: newmarket.ca/snowclearing How can you help?
Please respect our snow plow operators Be courteous and kind to all Newmarket snow crews as they work hard throughout the day and overnight to ensure all roads, sidewalks and trails are plowed and safe for residents to travel on. Please be patient, respect our snow plow operators and give them the space they need to plow the area. The Town understands that heavy snow falls can be frustrating for residents, however, please avoid approaching snow plow operators when they are doing their work.
