    The Town of Newmarket will be hosting an electronics (e-waste) and battery recycling event at the R.N. Shelton Operations Centre (1275 Maple Hill Court) on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    The event will take place as a drive-thru style / drop-off event where residents are invited to drop-off their unwanted electronic items such as TVs, DVD players, computers, laptops, and cell phones as well as household batteries. For a list of accepted items, please refer to the information below:

    Electronic items (e-waste)

    Please remove all personal data from your electronics. The Town of Newmarket will not be responsible for personal information contained on any electronic devices that may potentially store information.

    Batteries

    For safety purposes, please ensure that you follow precautionary measures when recycling certain types of batteries to reduce any risk of short-circuit. For more information, visit the How to Prepare Your Batteries for Recyclingwebpage.

    Waste diversion results

    Dropping off electronic items and household batteries for recycling at e-waste events keeps these items out of landfill.

    • 2021 - 13,188 lbs of electronic items
    • 2022 - 23,607 lbs of electronic items and 1,003 lbs of batteries
    • 2023 - 18,063 lbs of electronic items and 828 lbs of batteries
    • 2024 - 19,144 lbs of electronic items and 614 lbs of batteries
