Lighting
The court lights will not operate when the domes are up, they will be used for the summer season only. From May to September, the lights will be on to facilitate tennis matches in the evening (based on daylight hours) and they will be turned off overnight. The lights will not be turned on in the morning.
Background and history
Over the past few years, there has been a significant growth in the sport of tennis as noted in the Town's Recreation Playbook [PDF/6.8MB]. In 2024, Newmarket announced a Municipal Capital Facilities Agreement with Shining Hill Developments that will see a new tennis facility and clubhouse constructed on Bennington Road fully funded by the developer for the community.
