Temporary patio program applications due February 1

As part of the Town's ongoing efforts to enhance the vibrancy of our community, the Town of Newmarket has implemented a new Temporary Patio Program Policy to provide framework and provisions for the establishment and operation of Temporary Patios by eating establishments within Newmarket. The policy [PDF/291KB] outlines different aspects of the program including eligibility, types of temporary patios, applications, evaluation criteria, operating requirements, and fees and charges. Key enhancements include multi-year approval and earlier application periods.

Applications [PDF/388KB] are now available for the 2024 season. Interested establishments are encouraged to submit a complete application between January 1 to February 1, 2024 for consideration.

How to Apply:

  1. Visit the Town of Newmarket's Business Licensing page
  2. Find the Temporary Patio Program dropdown
  3. Complete the Temporary Patio Application Form
  4. Attach the necessary documents
  5. Submit the application licensing@newmarket.ca, or drop it off at the Town offices located at 395 Mulock Dr.

Following the application period, applications will be evaluated by Town Staff and permissions/denials will be issued at the end of February to provide businesses with time to prepare their patios.
