Thank you to the residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience and cooperation throughout this important capital project. We are proud to see our hard work and dedication to our assets recognized by the OPWA and know this bridge will serve the community for decades to come.”

About the Queen Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project

The Queen Street Bridge Rehabilitation project began in 2023 and involved a full bridge replacement above Metrolinx train tracks (between Main Street and Prospect Street). This asset replacement was identified as a need after regulatory structural inspections of the bridge and was done in conjunction with Metrolinx to support the Future GO Transit Expansion Plan and the electrification of the train tracks and took place in two phases.

Phase one focused on Bell Canada utility work where directional drilling for telecommunication conduits and splicing and reconfiguring telecommunication cables was required. Phase two focused on replacing the bridge. Significant coordination with Metrolinx was required throughout construction to ensure the safety of both the workers and train operations. Some of the work during phase two was conducted overnight to ensure minimal impact to GO Train service. The project was completed in 2025 on schedule and under construction budget.
