Whether you're having an intimate gathering, a large scale event or are travelling for a destination ceremony, planning a wedding can be an exciting (but sometimes overwhelming) process.

The Town of Newmarket is pleased to offer full wedding services for every step of your journey - from getting the marriage licence to saying "I do" - to make your big day a stress-free and special moment to remember. We offer wedding ceremonies at our Municipal Offices​ and off-site at any location in York Region and beyond.

Our wedding services are ideal for couples who are planning a destination wedding but what to make it legal before or after, couples looking for a more intimate ceremony and couples who want a non-religious civil ceremony.

Book your ceremony with us!​

It's your choice, you choose the date, the time, the location and the overall feel of your ceremony and our Marriage Officiants will work with you to make it happen. 

​Our Marriage Officiants are available to officiate your wedding both at our Municipal Offices​ or at the location of your choosing. 

Ceremonies at the Municipal Offices are available:

  • Fridays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ceremonies at Municipal Office Courtyards are available:

  • Available at all times.

If you are interested in having your ceremony at a different location, including from the comfort of your own home, our Marriage Officiants are available any day of the week (including Statutory holidays) and at times to be agreed on between the couple and the officiant. Please have a date, time and location in mind as well as your payment ready to reserve your spot at the time of your booking.

​​​Once you have booked your ceremony, your Marriage Officiant will contact you to schedule your wedding consultation before your wedding day. Both partners are required to attend the wedding consultation with the Marriage Officiant as you will be reviewing all aspects of your ceremony. Please have your marriage licence (if not provided at the time of booking), photo identification, and your script. 

You may choose from three ceremony script options: 

*Subject to approval by your Wedding Officiant, you may personalize parts of the script, such as the vows.

​Fees

(All fees shown on this page include HST. Pre-tax amounts can be found in the Town's Fees & Charges Bylaw).

A civil marriage ceremony, either at our Municipal Offices​ or at the location of your choosing, is $612.14. This fee must be made at the time of your booking. The Town also offers a reduced package fee of $744.56 for any couple that wishes to obtain their marriage licence and hold a civil marriage ceremony.

The Town also offers a renewal of vows celebration package for a fee of $612.14.

Official witnesses can also be provided for your on site ceremony only at a fee of $73.05 per witness, depending on availability.

The Town of Newmarket now provides a videotaping of your ceremony or celebration at a static view for $31.49. This must be requested prior to the ceremony.  

Payment options

We accept cash, Interac, Visa, Mastercard or American Express. 

For your convenience, we accept credit card payments over the phone by calling 905-895-5193.

Changes and cancellations

A fee of $37.04 will apply to any changes to your date within seven days of the ceremony. The date change is also subject to availability. Any cancellation prior to the consultation will result in a fee of $71.62. A cancellation of the ceremony any time after the consultation will result in a $212.38​ non-refundable fee. Cancellations on the day of your ceremony will result in no refund of any fees paid.

Carmel Goodman, Melissa Goodman and Jenn Land are all licensed Wedding Officiants who perform civil ceremonies on-site at the Town of Newmarket's Municipal Offices and off-site at a location of your choice in York Region and beyond.
