Echoes and Memories- presented by the Newmarket Group of Artists
A group exhibition from March 9 to June 5, 2026
Echoes and Memories explores the traces that linger - personal, collective, and imagined through the lens of sound and music. This theme reflects on how melodies, rhythms, and silence can carry memory, emotion, and history across time. Like a familiar song that transports us to another place or moment, echoes and memories may be tender or haunting, intimate or universal. Artists are encouraged to interpret music broadly: as literal sound, visual rhythm, cultural tradition, or emotional resonance
This special juried exhibition of artwork by members of the Newmarket Group of Artists responding to the theme of “Echoes and Memories”. On view are artworks in a range of media that reflect a variety of creative interpretations and poetic associations to this theme and its many cultural and artistic expressions.
The Newmarket Group of Artists (NGA) is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching Newmarket through the power of art The NGA’s mission is to foster a vibrant cultural environment, connect local artists with the public, and inspire creativity and collaboration across all generations. Its aim is to create accessible, inclusive experiences that celebrate art, strengthen community ties, and contribute to the cultural vitality of Newmarket.

Municipal Offices- Permanent Collection
Since 1999, the Town of Newmarket has been building a permanent art collection that celebrates our rich local history and heritage through purchasing one artwork from the annual Newmarket Heritage Juried Art Contest. Artists from across Ontario are invited to submit works that reflect on Newmarket, including but not limited to the Municipality's culture, society, economy, history, significant events, architecture or natural environment from the past or at present.
Our permanent art collection serves to capture some moments, monuments, and reflections of what makes Newmarket an extraordinary place to work, play and live.
