Bingo
License application requirements
The Town of Newmarket may issue a Bingo License to a charitable organization.
All applications are reviewed annually in May to ensure that they comply with the requirements of the Criminal Code and the policies of the Registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission.
In order to process an application for a Bingo License, the following must be included and submitted to the Legislative Services department:
- Completed application form
- Your organization's constitution and/or by-laws
- Proposed budget for bingo funds
- Membership list, if necessary
Bingo license reports
Monthly Bingo reports are to be filed every month, no later than the end of the next calendar month. The following documents must accompany the monthly report:
- Monthly bank statement and cancelled cheques
- All original deposit slips attached
- Separate or itemized deposits
- Copies of all receipts
Please note that issuance of a new license will be delayed if reports from a previous license are not up-to-date. The licensee must also conduct and manage the event in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the license.
Nevada
A Nevada (break-open ticket) is made of cardboard and has a cover with window tabs behind it, which are symbols revealed by tearing open the cover tab. The winning combination of symbols is specified on the back of the ticket. Break-open tickets are also known as 'Nevada tickets' or 'pull tabs'.
License application requirements
The Town of Newmarket may issue a license to charitable and non-profit organizations.
To apply for a Nevada License, the following requirements must be met:
- Fill-out an application form
- Include your organization's principal officers' original signatures
- Pay the license fee (three per cent of the total prize value) – a cheque written on the Lottery Trust Account payable to the Town of Newmarket
- A sample copy of the Nevada Ticket
- Information on any changes or amendments to the requirements (if applicable)
- A current copy of the Gaming Service Supplier Registration
- A current copy of the Gaming Equipment Supplier Registration
- A certificate of registration of the third party location selling tickets

Please note that Nevada Reports must be filed within 30 days of the expiry of the license.
Nevada license proceeds breakdown
Third party location:
- Total expenses (not including license fee) not to exceed 14.5 per cent (BN1) OR 16.35 per cent (BN2) of gross proceeds
- Sales commission to seller not to exceed 6.5 per cent of the gross receipts, inclusive of HST
- Registered gaming supplier not to exceed 4 per cent of the gross receipts
Charity's own location:
The total expenses are not to exceed 10 per cent of gross receipts. The following documents shall accompany the financial report:
- Copies of all original stamped deposit slips related to the event
- Receipts from ticket seller and/or gaming services supplier (reconciliation form)
- Receipts for expenses (i.e. invoice for purchase of tickets)
- Original stamped monthly bank statement and cancelled cheques
